For residents of Makurdi, the Benue State Capital and it’s environs, the past few days have been unusual as a result of the absence of one of their favourite Radio station, Brothers FM 90.5 Makurdi on the airwaves.
The radio station which began operation in August 2021 under the aegis of Lobi Broadcasting Company, has within the past year and some months, won the hearts of many with it’s contemporary music style as well as it’s unique and unmatched style of programming and presentation.
The level of expertise and professionalism displayed by the station’s team of presenters has equally set them apart within the short period of their existence thus far.
However, the sudden turn out of events occasioned by the recent rainstorm in Makurdi on the night of Sunday, 28 May 2023, has put the heartbeat of the people on a dark side.
Revealing the cause of the station’s absence on the airwaves for the past few days, the management of Brothers FM Makurdi via it’s official Facebook page, explained that the recent rainstorm “caused a severe physical damage” to it’s mast.
The management wrote:
“NOTICE
We regret to inform our esteemed listeners that the rainstorm of Sunday 28th May, 2023 caused severe physical damage to our mast.
This is the reason why we have been off air ever since.
Our team of Engineers and Consultants are working round the clock to ensure we bounce back as soon as possible.
We regret any inconveniences this may have caused our esteemed fans and customers.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
We miss you!
We will be back soon.❤️

Prior to the explainer and public apology, PlughuzMedia had visited the station’s broadcasting house located at Fr. Alia street, New GRA Makurdi and snapshots of the Radio station’s already damaged tower were obtained thereof.
This however, might mean “one man’s fall, the rising of another” for their competitors in the state and Makurdi especially.
