The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State vehemently denies the widely circulated claim that its gubernatorial candidate, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has relinquished his candidacy in favor of Governor Hope Uzodimma from the All Progressives Congress (APC). Disputing the authenticity of a viral video that surfaced on Thursday night, purportedly showcasing Anyanwu’s withdrawal and endorsement of Uzodimma, the PDP issued a robust response through its spokesperson, Ikenna Onuoha.
In a statement released on Friday, Anyanwu’s camp dismissed the video as a “fake, blatant lie from the pit of hell,” urging the public to dismiss it.
The statement attributed the video to a deliberate attempt by outgoing Governor Uzodimma to deceive the public, describing it as “mischievous, ridiculous, and misleading.” Anyanwu’s spokesperson asserted that the video had been criminally edited and manipulated to align with Uzodimma and the APC’s interests.
According to the statement, Senator Anyanwu, widely known as Samdaddy, firmly remains in the gubernatorial race and has no intention of withdrawing from an election he is purportedly on the verge of winning.
The release emphasized that the PDP candidate is perceived as a substantial threat to Uzodimma, who is allegedly grappling with dwindling support both physically and spiritually as evidenced by the public’s disapproval.
The PDP countered Uzodimma’s tactics of what they termed “blackmail and empty propaganda,” asserting that no amount of such strategies would rescue him from the impending defeat in the upcoming election.
The statement highlighted Senator Anyanwu’s position as a formidable contender, claiming that over 70 percent of observers have identified him as the likely victor in the contest.
